Scandinavian Cooking: It's the Way to Go

Sooo....I'm flipping through the TV channels right now (it's 2:30 A.M., son!) and I hit P.B.S. It's a cooking show, but not just any cooking show: it's "New Scandinavian Cooking with Tina Nordstrom." Now, I haven't seen many cooking shows (Food Network, what the hell?) but I must say, this is BY FAR THE BEST (I'm gonna have to TiVo this...). Here are some photos from the Web site of the only cooking show to have the coveted *oBST Medal of Approval:

It almost makes you wanna eat pickled herring doesn't it?

Dr. Strangelove: Greatest Fucking (who knew?*) Movie of ALL TIME

More on this later (it's late!), but all I can say is this: the greatest of movies are still relevant today. "Dr. Strangelove" is one of them. Some screenshots (some real, some unreleased!), as always.

"Gentlemen, there's no fighting in here--this is the war-room!"

*apparently I can't say "fuck," if we want to keep our advertising $$$....so no more fuck....promise.

Your Daily Dose of Voyeurism, Part Deux

I've been checking out the browser-share numbers, and it looks like a lot of you are still using Internet Explorer (what for guys?). I highly recommend that you get Firefox: not only is it the best browser for surfing and pop-up protection, it's also what I use when updating the blog so it's the best way to view the blog, too . Look for the free download link on the left-hand side of the blog so you can get Firefox today! (Full disclosure: we make $$$ (pennies are still $$$...) off of your succesful d/ls.)

Your Daily Dose of Voyeurism

So I was checking out the site stats today, and apparently we've hit the 150 mark! More importantly, though, were these world-map stats:

Hmmm...as a self-proclaimed "company of the world," this isn't looking balanced. So, we here at *oBST are now hard at work trying to woo some international tourism.

UPDATE: We've taken the first step! Si no habla/parlez ingles/anglais, check out the new blog translations--now in five distinct flavors!

The Week In Deportes

Umm...a little late on the uptake for this one, but Golden Boy De La Hoya kicked Matador Mayorga's ASS over the weekend. The lesson Mayorga learned from the fight? Never mess with a boxer who eats caviar for breakfast and owns his own damn bank!

In other news, the Clip Show plays game two against the Phoenix Suns tonight at 7:30 PDT on TNT. Hopefully they can tie this series up tonight. In similar news, let the crazy rumors begin!, I found this compromising photo of the M.V.P. Steve Nash in his Dirk Nowitzki days...oh the things you can find on the Internet!

The *oBST Film Tagboard

Ummm, I guess I've been a little obsessed with posting about film today...so how about I give the *oBST Blog readers the final say? (After all, we're all about pleasing our following, heh.) So, leave as many comments as you want in the tagboard, in answer to this question: What are some of your favorite films OF ALL TIME?

Cinema in the Seventies

Want to know what the 1970s were like? Check out these films:

"Network." Best ending line ever:

Narrator: This was the story of Howard Beale, the first known instance of a man who was killed because of lousy ratings.

"The Killing of a Chinese Bookie." Cassavetes follows the life of Cosmo Vitelli: an intimate look into the seedy L.A. underbelly of the 1970s, with bookies, loan sharks, and strippers everywhere to be found.

Raccomandazioni, Cinematica

Films to check out at 2 A.M. on TCM (or at least I did...):

"Midnight Lace." Doris Day in 1950s London. Need I say more? (Oh, and if this film doesn't once and for all prove that Rex Harrison is kind of a dick, then, what will?)

"The Third Man." For those who know about it, this is truly an answer to everything that "Casablanca" couldn't be and never was, set in the rubble and disillusion of post-Second World War Vienna. A war-torn love tale this is not.(Screenshots provided below, to peak your interest!)
